Mansfield Zoo

Walk around an outdoor zoo where selected free-roaming deer, kangaroos, wallabies, emus, ostriches and llamas can be fed with food purchased at the gate. Follow the keeper’s instructions: some animals are fed using the provided spade rather than by hand. The keeper-led feeding round starts at 1.30pm on weekends and Victorian public-school holidays, beginning with the lions and then meerkats. Families can bring a picnic; visitor barbecues need to be booked. Allow for an outdoor regional outing rather than a quick indoor attraction. The animal collection also includes birds such as masked owls and cockatoos, and reptiles including an American alligator, blue-tongue lizards and eastern water dragons.
